JOU4603 Group shot
Yawning
Originally uploaded by morgpet.
This week we had a little fun in class.
We challenged our teacher Tommy Thompson to create a group portrait of our class, or those of us who showed up this week.
The class usually starts at 7:10pm or 7:20pm so we figured a yawning picture would be very appropriate.
So much fun.
We later took the group shot to a new level as we divided up and jumped into the shot from both sides. A few bruises may surface, but we had fun bonding.

Election Night Photo Coverage
Along with five other Alligator photographers, I went downtown Tuesday night to photograph the local results of the election. Although none of my photos ran in the paper, three did make the election night photo story posted online.
Elections Photo Story
My photos are numbers 1, 5 and 6.
Because there were so many of us, we split up during the night and I had the least luck of actually catching photos of the candidates.

My day...
Miss hurricane Frances needs to hurry up and get here some time soon.
3:36 AM Sunday and it's just starting to drizzle in Gainesville.
Whoa make that down-pour! It JUST started getting very loud.
Yesterday (aka Saturday) was sooooo long. I shot a roll of film though, notice, not digital. I can't wait to get it back, but that will have to hold off until Frances leaves us. I guess I'll have to start another blog dedicated to film images. :D Yes, so this roll was of pre-hurricane stuff. Film is so exciting.
I've been trying to format my very very own web site from scratch, but have stumped myself after making a few pages in Adobe GoLive. I'll put it on the back burner for now and just work on my blogs.

New Web site
In lieu of creating another blog devoted only to SX-70 images, I am commiting this blog to my digital images only. Therefore, I may change the web address to reflect this, but not any time soon.
My new site of SX-70 images can be found at:
http://sx-70blog.blogspot.com
Posting should begin soon, if hurricane Frances doesn't knock out power.
Stay safe Florida.

Change of Pace
I have come to realize I am too glued to my 10D. It's great and all for the photojournalism side of me, but for some reason whenever I use it to take "creative" or "just for fun" shots I am never pleased with my results. It's probably just some road block in my mind, but I have a solution! For a week or so I will dust off and carry around my old SX-70 polaroid camera. I love that camera! This means to post any pics I'll have to scan them at a friend's house (hint, hint, here I come Lynn).
Hopefully I'll also be getting some more daily assignments from the Florida Independent Alligator, those of course will be digital though.

Ashley 1 & 2
Working digital I've noticed I don't print out pics any more.
Is that bad?
So maybe I should go back to film? I admit, I do enjoy it more.
Visitor
He seemed to be a rather large hermit crab.
I forgot to ask his name, as I was running late to class.
"French Fries"
Many have mocked it, including past UF Vice President Robert Bryan who nick named it "French Fries from Hell" and threaten to have himself chained to the piece until it was removed.
It's still there.

UF landmark
In my art history class, our first assignment is to define art in our own terms and also bring in an example of something we consider to be art and something that we don't consider to be art.
So is this rock thing art?
My opinion?
Nope.
