The Downs at Expo New Mexico may be facing demolition so we needed fresh art. Luckily someone was training.

I once volunteered with a similar program in Florida. Needless to say I'm glad this assignment landed in my lap.

Wildfire

Yesterday I covered the Trigo Fire but they wouldn't let us near the real fire. I tried everything. No dice. So I waited for last minute evacuees to come out. This man rode his horse out to safety.

Arabian Nationals

Arabian Nationals are in town. Today was our first really cold day here. Four layers later and sheltered from the wind in a horse stall I was still struggling to feel my hands after an hour. It seemed some of the horses were coping better than others with the windy weather.

Rained out festival

The rain chased away almost all festival attendees for the annual Yulee Days celebration.
This re-enactor was preparing a horseless rider memorial for a local firefighter.

Zucchini Festival

My only break from fire coverage until today. The Zucchini Festival in a small small town.
